While it may seem daunting to raise your desired goal for the 2008 Michiana Dance
Marathon, there are many ways that can boost your total including: Canning, The
Letter Writing Campaign, Corporate Donations and Other Fundraising Events.
Canning
One profitable method of fundraising is Canister Solicitation, also known as “canning.”
This method is exactly as it sounds. Dancers collect spare change and bills in cans
that are strategically placed at work, or that are carried through a neighborhood.
For any questions you have about Canning or if you are looking for opportunities
to can, please contact the
Fundraising Committee directly
Letter Writing Campaign
An easy and very successful method of fundraising is letter writing. Gather as many
addresses as possible of family, friends, neighbors and co-workers. You can write
your own letter or use the template available here on our website. Click here to download the Dancer Pledge Request Letter (Word).
Some tips:
- You can personalize your letters by adding a paragraph about your personal DFH involvement
or anything else you choose to share.
- Send out the letters as soon as you can.
- All checks should be made out to the Center for the Homeless.
- You may include things such as self-addressed stamped envelopes to make it easier
for donors to send back money. As a courtesy to donors, please make sure that you
bring all checks and cash to the DFH office located at the Center for the Homeless
as soon as they come in.
- For any questions you have about The Letter Writing Campaign, please contact the
Fundraising Committee directly
Corporate Donations
Corporate Donations possess great fundraising potential for DFH. The Fundraising
Committee is here to help you with every step of the DFH corporate donation process.
You may have contacts with certain corporations through friends, family or a personal
work experience. It is DFH’s goal to help you get them involved and contributing.
We want to make it as easy as possible, so we have corporate packets and other information
that can be sent to company contacts. For questions about Corporate Donations, please
contact the Fundraising Committee
Other Fundraising Events
As an individual or an organization, you do not have to limit yourself to using
one of the “standard” methods of fundraising to help DFH. There are an unlimited
number of things you could do; use your imagination! We ask that you
contact a member of the Executive Council to ensure that your idea is permitted,
and they may be able to offer you additional resources as well that may aid in your
fundraising efforts.
Corporate Sponsorship:
Corporate sponsors will cover the cost of operating the marathon, which enables
all the money raised by the participants to directly benefit the guests at CFH.
