Past dance marathon success at IU Bloomington

That's right. You heard us correctly. The South Bend Center for the Homeless is proud to introduce Dance for the Homeless!

But what is a dance marathon, you ask? Quite simply; it's dancing, playing basketball, listening to live music, watching performances, and many other activities all crammed into a single 24 hour stand-a-thon for charity!

The idea of a dance marathon was created in 1973 at Penn State University. 78 participants raised over $2,000 for charity at the initial event. Each year since, the amount raised continues to grow at a staggering pace.

In 2007 alone, Penn State raised over $5.2 million for charity. Many other universities have since adopted the dance marathon event... and now it makes its debut in Michiana!
